Over the summer holidays, ten children from Year 5 took part in a fabulous week long residential where they were immersed in the culture and language of China.

Over the course of six days, with the help of some fantastic and very patient language teachers, the children learnt how to introduce themselves, talk about their likes/dislikes and ask questions in mandarin. The children also learnt about the fascinating culture of China taking part in activities such as Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Lion Dancing, Calligraphy, origami and Chinese Brush Painting. Who could forget as well a delicious meal at a local Chinese restaurant! All in all the children thoroughly enjoyed the week, made new friends and developed a new found enthusiasm for all things Chinese. A big thank you to the British Council and HSBC who made the whole week possible.
