Excitement filled the air as the pharaohs, queens and mummies of Kibworth entered the Year 5 mobile to the sounds The Bangles’ ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’!

To kick start our new topic, we decided what better way to get into the spirit than dressing as Ancient Egyptians and what a spectacular sight they were! We really do have amazingly supportive parents who help their children look brilliant and engage in their learning. After a catwalk during assembly to show off their regalia, the children embarked on a day packed full of all things Egyptian.

Later on in the day, the children were present as Miss Millington was embalmed by Mariptah (aka Mr Whiting) and his glamorous assistant, Ipwet (Mrs Lafferty)! They were mesmerised as one by one her internal organs were removed and placed into canopic jars. As the process was clearly explained, the body was prepared for mummification and ready for its journey into the afterlife. Luckily for the children, this was only a simulation and Miss Millington was back to teach Literacy the next day!

We now look forward to learning more about this exciting part of world history.
