The building of the school hall has taken a long time, longer than I thought. We had to have our dinners in our classrooms, which was a bit of squash and a squeeze! Every day we have heard banging, crashing and lorries reversing. However, when the builders left it all went quiet and we could see the finished building. When we stepped into the new hall for the first time, WOW it looked amazing and ginormous. It smelt like flowers and fresh paint and looked very white! We are all very excited.
The things we found hard while we were having the new hall built were:
- Worship being either not on or it being cold, although we were lucky with the weather for a long time.
- Different routines.
- No indoor PE.
- Walking with our lunch without dropping it.
- Not dropping food on the classroom carpet.
The things we are looking forward to are:
- Worship in the hall
- Enough room for everyone to sit comfortably
- Normal routines
- Indoor and outdoor PE
- Normal meals, no more paper bags
- Sitting at the new tables and eating with knives and forks
My life at school is quite mad, The hall was gone and that was bad. The new hall being built is such a sight, I hope we can go in soon sometime. Parent’s complaining about the cold, “Go inside” they said Mr Briggs got told! Assemblies will be better than ever, With that sliding wall forever. Dinners have been quite strange, But we know the hall will come again. Thursdays we will be singing loud, Singing up towards the clouds. New dinners will be very yummy, Filling up my empty tummy. The hall will let us do more PE I am so excited that I want to shout Yippee! The gates have been quite annoying, Since the adults have been pushing. I wish we could have cool things like a zip line, In school plays we could fly! The Christmas fete will be fun, Selling lots of things for everyone. The hall will be full of displays, Which will make everyone stop and gaze. Overall the new hall is great I can’t wait for school discos to celebrate!
I think the new hall is amazing. Interestingly, it was so worth sitting outside for lunch. We have new tables, which are fantastic. I think the two projectors are really good and are a lot better than the old one. We should all feel really lucky and grateful for what we have. We are really lucky to have the school dinners that we have because I think the children in New Delhi are not as fortunate. The hall is gigantic and a lot less crowded. We all have a lot of space. It is really good that we have a sliding door that splits the hall in half. This means we can all have more PE.
Overall, I think we should take great care of the hall because we are really privileged to have it. The hall is a great place for us to come together as a school for worship.
Throughout the four months of the building project, which seemed like it would never end, we dreaded the thought of bitterly cold winds every Worship. As the amber and yellow autumn leaves fell off the frail branches of the trees, we realised that the atmosphere was getting colder. Eventually, we knew it would be worthwhile if we could survive a couple more weeks of the intense weather that Kibworth had to throw at us.
Finally, we jumped for joy at the sound of the news of the new hall which concluded the misty assemblies we had endured out in the cold. Now, we are looking forward to a warm place to eat our lunch, and listening to the lovely new sound system promised by Mr. Briggs. Extremely excited about the months to come in our new hall, we can now express our personalities on the blank canvas it offers us daily.
