Castleton Day 3

With the sun still shining here in Castleton, the children woke up to their second full day. They were ready and raring to go after a quieter night’s sleep! Group 1 and 4 began their day with a competitive raft building competition which culminated in a race across the lake; Mr Roantree captained his team to victory and a celebratory dip! Other groups battled strong winds as they scrambled their way across the rocky Higger Tor whilst enjoying the challenge of weaselling under, over and through gaps in the boulders. Some of the children nerves were put to the test on the infamous ‘leap of faith’ as they scaled the high ropes. Throughout the week, all groups have involved in various problem solving activities. The centre staff have been really impressed by the children’s ability to reflect and review their actions in order to achieve terrific results. Orienteering has also been a really good way for the children to develop their map reading skills. Working in teams, they have had to navigate their way around Hollowford site to find some very well hidden clues. As our final full day approaches, the children are now in full swing and looking forward to their final activities.
