Last weekend children from KS2 were given the chance to attend the annual Science Conference at Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough.
The conference has gained a fantastic reputation over the years and the limited places were filled up in record time! The day began with Judith Green, science teacher at Robert Smyth, giving a talk to children from 14 different schools about why science has been so important throughout history and why it is so necessary now. The children then attended 3 different workshops throughout the day.
The workshop run by Kibworth was ‘Measly Micro-organisms’ and children had fun spreading ‘infections’ to each other and seeing the effects under a UV light, seeing how far snot can travel and investigating the best way to prevent the spread of a cold. The day concluded with a brilliant talk on space, which even included the launching of a rocket!
The children from Kibworth represented the school beautifully and showed their impeccable good manners to both staff and students at the conference.
We hope they enjoyed the day as much as the teachers did!
